Lucent

Een ode aan cyclische tijd en het spel van licht.
Lucent is een intieme beeldserie geinspireerd op het Keltisch jaarwiel acht momenten in het jaar die de natuurlijke cyclus markeren. Van de diepste winterduisternis tot de overvloed aan licht in de zomer: elk beeld vangt een fase, een sfeer, een beweging.
Zwart-wit portretten, soms met een vleug koel blauw, verbeelden het ritme van licht en schaduw, scherpte en vervaging, stilte en transformatie. Rondingen, silhouetten en contouren die oplossen in overbelichting of juist oprijzen uit de duisternis: de vrouwen in deze serie zijn geen individu, maar een universele, vrouwelijke aanwezigheid binnen een groter ritueel van tijd.
De vormen en het licht spelen de hoofdrol gevangen in een flits, gehuld in schaduw, vervloeiend met hun omgeving. De pilaren van een eeuwenoud Keltisch bouwwerk, vastgelegd onder de nachtelijke hemel van Cornwall, vormen het anker van de serie. De reis ernaartoe letterlijk en innerlijk was onderdeel van het proces. Lucent ontstond gaandeweg, gevoed door de rituelen die ik zelf begon te volgen, en door de stilte en symboliek die ik onderweg tegenkwam.
Wat begon als een fotografisch onderzoek groeide uit tot een persoonlijke verkenning van tijd, vorm en intuïtie. Lucent is een stille viering van wat zichtbaar wordt én wat wacht in de schaduw.

An ode to cyclical time and the play of light.
Lucent is an intimate photographic series inspired by the Celtic wheel of the year eight seasonal celebrations that follow the rhythm of nature. From the deepest winter darkness to the height of summer light, each image captures a phase, a feeling, a shift.
Black-and-white portraits, occasionally touched with a cool blue tone, reflect the interplay of light and shadow, clarity and blur, stillness and transformation. Circular shapes, silhouettes, and fading contours emerge and dissolve the women portrayed are not individuals, but a universal feminine presence within a larger ritual of time.
Here, form and light take center stage caught in a ray, cloaked in shadow, blending with their surroundings. The pillars of an ancient Celtic structure, photographed under the night sky in Cornwall, form the anchor of the series. The journey there both physical and inner became part of the process. Lucent took shape gradually, nourished by the seasonal rituals I began practicing myself, and by the quiet symbolism I encountered along the way.
What began as a photographic inquiry evolved into a personal exploration of time, form, and intuition. Lucent is a quiet celebration of what is revealed and what waits in the shadows.
